Description
The Thomopoulos house is the work of the architect Ernst Ziller and was built around 1870.
It is a three-storey corner building, on the north side of Vas. Georgiou AD, which has arcades with arched openings on both sides, a typical example of an urban neoclassical house of the 19th century.
It is distinguished for the harmony of its facades and the symmetry in the arrangement of its openings and other morphological elements, while the niches with the ceramic neoclassical statues on the first floor stand out, which give a special character to the building.
Thomopoulos's house now belongs to the National Bank and houses, in addition to its branch on the ground floor, the Cultural Center of the National Bank Educational Foundation, on the two floors of the building, which are designed for hosting art exhibitions and cultural events.
