Description
The modern lighthouse of Patras dominates the pier of Ichthyoskala, in the area opposite Agios Andreas and the Tsivdi district.
In the area there was the ancient port of the city that flourished in Roman times, while in the era the fish ladder is the feeder of the local market.
In recent years, the area was landscaped by the Port Fund and the new lighthouse was rebuilt, which is identical in form and materials to the old lighthouse of Patras, which was built in 1860 at the end of the pier of Agios Nikolaos and was demolished during dictatorship, in 1972, with the reconstruction of the port.
Today it is an attraction and a place for walking and entertainment for the people of Patras and the visitors of the city.
