Maizonos Street

Patras’ most iconic city walk: a pedestrian-friendly route linking major churches, squares, and elegant neoclassical architecture.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The pedestrian spine of central Patras

Maizonos Street is the “spine” of Patras’ historic center and one of the city’s most emblematic routes. A large section has recently become pedestrian-friendly, creating a comfortable, continuous walk through the heart of town—without the noise and interruption of cars.

As you stroll, Patras’ religious and civic history unfolds around you: from Saint Andrew’s Church, past the historic City Hall (the former Arsakeio), the church of Pantanassa, and through George I Square. Along the way, neoclassical buildings hint at the city’s 19th-century elegance.

Beyond its architecture and landmarks, Maizonos is full of everyday energy—the city’s main commercial and administrative axis. It’s where Patras feels most alive, blending imposing churches, street sounds, and modern life into an authentic city experience.
